 Troubleshooting

Nothing is more frustrating than to call a repair man out and get charged to flip a breaker back on or to do some other simple task.  If you’re having trouble with your a/c, furnace, heat pump or heating system, you can always call our offices for help and service. However, here are a few simple suggestions to try before setting up a service appointment.

So to begin with, we'll cover some common problems that are a cinch to fix.

Are your Filters clean? Believe it or not, if they're dirty enough, your system will not function properly.

When your a/c unit won't turn on or only hot air comes out of the vents when your in the cooling mode. Check the circuit breaker.

Did you check to see if your thermostat is on? If it is on, did you turn the thermostat down below the temperature of the room when calling for cooling or above the temperature of the room when calling for heating?

If your air conditioning filter(s) were extremely dirty, and you already replaced them, but you're still not getting cool air, it could be that your system has iced up do to the lack of air flow.

Turn your a/c system to the OFF position and turn the fan only switch ON for a few hours to melt the ice. Then return to normal operation. If that works...great! If it works only for a little while and the same problem returns, then your unit is either low on refrigerant or their is some other airflow problem that needs to be looked at.

 No Heat?

    • Check to make sure that the thermostat is set in the HEAT position.

    • Make sure that the temperature setting on the thermostat is set HIGHER than the current        indoor temperature.

    • Ensure that there’s power to the furnace

•Try turning the fan to ON” on the thermostat to test for power to furnace.

    • If no action, reset the breakers at the electrical panel, especially if the thermostat is showing
      a blank reading.

    • Is there any air coming out of your vents?

    •
Always make sure you routinely change out your filters as directed to ensure
      peak performance.

    • In addition, check all return air grilles and registers. Make sure they are not
blocked by furniture and are open to allow airflow.
